ASSESSMENT OF REWARD - SALVAGE - TOWAGE
Summary
A very ample discretion is excerised by the tribunal which has to assess a salvage award. In the exercise of this discretion there are, of course, certain broad principles which teh Court recognisesas proper guides to its judgement; and the Court always seeks to combine teh consideration which isdue to teh owners int eh protection of their property withteh liberality due to the salvors in remunerating meritorious services. But, ina ddtion to tehse broad guiding principles, tehre are certainmaterila circumstances which fall to be considered in fixing the amount of teh reward; which teh Court outlined in this judgment.
